If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will see I have been very busy this year. I became an author with Scenes of a Single Mom read more here. May 4th, 2019 at 7pm, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and spoke to hundreds of mothers, grandmothers, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts, and nieces by sharing a glimpse of my story as a 16 year old teenager telling her mom she was pregnant through to the accomplishments I fought hard to achieve with God’s grace at the Brown Mama Monologues. This was just the beginning of stepping into my purpose!
Whew! Listen, I had to dig deep and share this story without crying! Coupled with, the emotions I experienced because it was hard to share but felt amazing once I got through it! Being a teen mom was one of the hardest obstacles I’ve faced in my life! Pursuing my education while working and being a mom was a HUGE challenge! The event I took part in was an amazing show called the Brown Mama Monologues. There were 10 amazing mothers sharing their stories from adoption, to mommy guilt, to sending love letters to their children.
My monologue was titled, “A Mother’s Grace”.This was a very heavy and emotional experience. Prior to this, I was afraid of sharing my story. I was afraid of the judgements I would receive and the naysayers with their opinions. You know, those people who try to use what you’ve been through against you but failing to see the triumph you’ve overcome. Yes, those people! Ladies never become one of those women and stay far away from the men who try to keep you at your default setting.
MY GOD did I persevere and conquer! As I look back over the last 16 years of my life, I see where God intervened and carrier me through it ALL!
Here’s my monologue….
