There’s no one more important in your life than YOURSELF! I’ve learned this the hard way. The responsibilities in my life call for me to be pulled in multiple directions, answering to multiple people all at once. I begin to become overwhelmed with not wanting to let people down if I can’t complete what has been asked of me. I’m consistently on the move. During my last summer semester in graduate school, I burned myself out. I needed a complete weekend of no distractions, no telephone calls, and most importantly NO RUNNING AROUND!
I realized that if I didn’t take time out to get myself fully rested, I couldn’t do anything for anyone or give my full potential to task that I needed to completed. Here’s why I want to stress to you the importance of taking care of yourself:
BECAUSE YOU DESERVE AND NEED IT
As simple as that! The world will not end if you pause for 72 hours. Yes, you read that correctly! “THE WORLD WILL NOT END IF YOU PAUSE FOR 72 HOURS!”. Don’t believe the phrase “No Days Off”. You need a break every now and again.
Taking care of yourself is not limited to just resting. Here are 5 ways you can enjoy taking care of yourself and relaxation:
- Schedule a Spa Day.
- Plan a weekend getaway.
- Take a Yoga or Soul Cycle Class.
- See a movie and grab lunch.
- Read a book and journal
Remember it all starts and ends with you! Taking care of yourself is essential to your wellbeing and your overall success!
